Offices and other non-gallery functions were moved out of the Kahn building, freeing up exhibition space and allowing the restoration of the gallery’s open plan. As a result, the building’s north side once again has the transparency that was visible from the sculpture garden when the building was new. The garden was itself renovated and reinstalled with some sculptures that had been there before and some new additions, including works by David Smith and Martin Puryear '71MFA.
