Dwight Hall, 1885–1926
The building that would give its name to Yale’s premier do-gooding organization was a Romanesque essay in solidity by J. Cleveland Cady. Built for what was then a YMCA affiliate, Dwight Hall gave its life to provide a better vista of Harkness Tower from the Old Campus. The organization decamped to the Old Library next door, which soon took on the name Dwight Hall itself.
