Original Yale

Original Yale College building, 1718–1782
Yale’s first building in New Haven, at the corner of College and Chapel where Bingham Hall now stands, was sided with clapboard and housed student rooms, a hall for classes, and a library. After Connecticut Hall and other later buildings were built, the wooden structure slowly deteriorated before students took on its demolition as an extracurricular activity.
