1/10 Deborah and John Coleman Darnell created their own field in Egyptology: desert road archeology. Deborah Darnell works at one of their many excavation sites along the Girga Road. It was Deborah Darnell’s discovery of distinctive Middle Kingdom pottery styles in the Kharga Oasis that led to the discovery of the lost Egyptian city, Umm Magawir.
