The sight of men in uniform—and women, too—is becoming common on campus again. This fall marks the reestablishment of Navy and Air Force ROTC to Yale after a 40-year absence.
On September 21, the
university officially welcomed the new detachments in a ceremony in front of
the war memorial in Hewitt Quadrangle. The Navy program has 12 midshipmen, all
from Yale; the Air Force program includes 8 cadets from Yale and about 30 from
other colleges in the area. |
