A Note to Our Readers
December 1992
by Carter Wiseman ’68, Editor
This issue of the Yale Alumni Magazine provides an occasion for some updates on the magazine’s content and method of production. In recent months, we have converted from some fairly primitive forms of editing, typesetting, and design to a version of desktop publishing. The magazine is now composed and designed on Macintosh computers and sent directly to the printer, eliminating the need for traditional typesetting. Many Class and School correspondents are right in step and are now sending us their Notes on disks.
While upgrading our production technology, we have also been expanding our editorial coverage. Starting with the Summer issue, we have been adding to our regular columns one called “Details,” in which we can depart from the greater issues of Yale and concentrate on some of the finer-grained aspects of the institution.
Largely in response to the requests we received in response to the questionnaire in the Summer issue for more information on undergraduate life at Yale, we have initiated another column, entitled “College Comment.” The column, which features for its debut a recent editorial from the Yale Daily News, will be drawn from it and other College publications, and from original work by a variety of undergraduate writers. |
