Rolling Out the Green Carpet

In early May, as renovations to the subterranean Cross Campus Library continued, Cross Campus was a bustling construction zone hidden from view by a high plywood fence. Sidewalk superintendents found it hard to believe that graduates would be able to assemble there for the commencement procession on May 28.

But in a matter of days, a new lawn was rolled out, the fence and equipment disappeared, and the quad was nearly back to normal. (For aerial proof, see page 55.)
