In the middle of the night, Battell Chapel on the Old Campus becomes a gathering place for students and others seeking quiet in the heart of the university. They enter the sanctuary to meditate, to reflect, or simply to enjoy the silence, coming and going as they wish.

Indigo Blue, a center for Buddhist life at Yale, provides candles, cushions, and cups of barley tea for those who join in “Stillness and Light”—11 to 1, seven nights a week.  |
